Assessing the energy efficiency potential of SMEs in the metalworking products manufacturing sector: we are looking for applicants for a free energy auditUploaded: 24 of March, 2025

The hectic energy market prices of recent years and the deteriorating economic environment have put domestic small and medium-sized enterprises, which are significant energy users and for which energy costs are an increasing burden, in a particularly difficult situation. The REKK Foundation has therefore set itself the objective of helping SMEs active in the production of metalworking products to make the necessary energy modernisation and achieve decarbonisation targets, thereby increasing their competitiveness.

Our research project, supported by the European Climate Foundation, aims to assess the costs and energy savings that can be achieved at the national economy level in the short and medium term. As part of the research, we will carry out a detailed energy audit at two companies in the sub-sectors of metal surface treatment and machining, metal structure and building element manufacturing and tool and general metal goods manufacturing, with the involvement of energy experts from Wattmanager Ltd. The audits will be an integral part of the research and their results will be used anonymously as a basis for national level estimates and a simplified energy recommendation (handbook) for the whole sector.

The survey is free of charge for participating companies and the results of the energy audit are provided free of charge.

We are looking for companies that commit to cooperate in the first half of 2025 in the preparation of the energy audit and to participate in a workshop at Corvinus University of Budapest in the second half of 2025.

If you are interested in this cooperation opportunity,

please complete our pre-qualification application form by 23 April 2025.

It takes just 5 minutes to complete the questionnaire. Companies that complete the questionnaire will be contacted by our staff to get to know the candidate better in an online interview of up to 30 minutes.

Applications received will be assessed by 30 April. Wattmanager Ltd. will conclude a cooperation agreement with the selected companies until 8 May 2025.

The deadline for completion of the audits is 30 June 2025.

The data provided in the questionnaire will not be disclosed to third parties and will be used exclusively for the selection of the companies participating in the audit.

If you have any questions, please contact Borbála Tóth Takácsné, head of research.
