The Beyond Gas project members have introduced the cooperation among the V4 energy think tanks and the first results of the project at the Towards 21st Century Energy Systems in Central & Eastern Europe in Washington on 25th June. The aim of the project is to elaborate an initial assessment of a new security of supply concept and its application on the V4 region (with a possibility of extending it to neighbouring countries) in the post 2020 period.

The topic of the panel discussion was the innovation in the Central and Eastern European Energy Systems and those major energy security challenges which will arise between 2020 and 2030. Some good examples of regional cooperation were also mentioned (supporting the ENTSO-E membership of Ukraine, the solutions to the loop-flow issue).

The project was represented at the event by the project leader REKK, and the Instytut Jagielloński from Poland, but the research results of the SFPA from Slovakia and AMO from the Czech Republic were also referred.
