SET-NAV Regional Workshop26 of February, 2019
Location: Budapest Music Center, Budapest, 1093 Budapest, Mátyás utca 8

At the Regional Workshop in Budapest modelling teams presented the main results and policy recommendations for the Pathways Scenarios. Pathways show four possible scenarios on how to reach the 2050 EU decarbonisation targets. Detailed sectoral analyses of building, industry, transport, electricity and heating sector presented storylines for decarbonisation and highlight the main challenges and opportunities.

The goal of the workshop was to get relevant stakeholder feedback on the modelling results.

The SET-Nav (www.set-nav.eu) project has the overarching goal of supporting strategic decision making in Europe’s energy sector, enhancing innovation towards a clean, secure and efficient energy system, financed by the European Commission’s EU Horizon 2020 programme.

The project aims to enable the European Commission, national governments and regulators to facilitate the development of optimal technology portfolios by market actors. It will comprehensively address critical uncertainties and derive appropriate policy and market responses. The findings will support the further development of the Strategic Energy Technology Plan (SET-Plan) and its implementation by continuous stakeholder involvement.

The contribution of the SET-Nav project rests on three pillars:

  1. Expanding the technically-advanced modelling portfolio and enabling knowledge exchange via a modelling forum.
  2. The careful comparative evaluation of the impact of multiple future technology pathways that are policy sensitive.
  3. The development of stakeholder dialogue and dissemination to ensure policy and market actors alike can navigate effectively through the diverse options available on energy innovation and system transformation.
