The high prices during the energy crisis focused attention on the exposure of energy-intensive companies in the SME sector and the importance of energy efficiency measures and decarbonization. In our research, we examined the experiences of Hungarian food industry SMEs, especially in the bakery and meat processing subsectors, during the energy crisis, with the aim to define what energy efficiency potential lies in their operations in the medium and long term.
Based on individual company experiences, we prepared a sectoral energy efficiency potential estimate for the Hungarian food industry SME sector.
The purpose of this workshop was to discuss the above experiences and to evaluate the possibilities for moving forward, the institutional and regulatory challenges and support programs and financing opportunities with experts from the most important state and non-profit institutions.
