The next 40 years: Advancing EU energy objectives in East Central Europe4-5 of October, 2012

This event was hosted by the Atlantic Council of the United States and the Regional Centre for Energy Policy Research. The workshop brought together U.S. and European business leaders and public policymakers in a dialogue designed to increase the understanding of the issues related to the development of a coherent policy on energy security in East Central Europe from the perspective of the United States, the European Union and the regional governments.

The format was a round table discussion with an agenda structured to allow sufficient time for discussion of issues by all participants. Modified Chatham house rules were followed on Day II to encourage frank discussions and a full airing of concerns. The program was designed to develop consensus recommendations from a cross section of government, industry and non-governmental policy experts to examine current efforts to transform the supply and consumption of energy to create a sustainable energy future for East Central Europe that addresses an integrated goal of energy security, environmental responsibility and economic prosperity.
