REKK has organised its second scholarship competition with the support of Bakony Power Plant. The competition was open for university students. The following topics were suggested for analysis:
- Fuel biomass markets in Hungary, focusing on fuelwood and corn
- Temperature dependance in electricity consumption, the example of summer 2006 and 2007
- Economic indicators of Hungary’s energy dependence, compared to three EU member states (one of them Romania, Slovakia, Austria or Slovenia)
- Economic modelling of ownership issues of the TSO
- Is state support necessary for pumped storage power plant construction?
- EU emission right trade prices in the second stage
- Effect of price cap regulation on the investment activity of the regulated company
- Effect of political cycles on the tariff setting of utilities in Hungary
- Socially optimal use of cross-border electricity trade, or „should we close the borders if electricity is cheaper than int he neighborhood?”
13 papers were submitted for the competition.
