On 15th June the United States Congress has issued the law “Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act” which – among other actions – imposes sanctions on the commerce with Russia. These restrictions will have a large effect on the energy markets in the Central and Eastern European region. The law sets outs sanction related to Russian oil and gas producing capacities, and promotes the energy security in Ukraine.
What kind of sanctions are proposed? How will these sanctions effect the energy market investments in Hungary and in the region? How will these restrictions affect the already existing pipelines? During the Market Monitoring Club, we seek the answers to these questions.
