High prices in the region – Can flow-based market coupling be blamed?5 of November, - Market Monitoring Club
Location: Corvinus University of Budapest, 1093 Budapest, Fővám tér 8.

This summer, electricity prices in the region were not as high as in 2024, but wholesale price differences between Germany and the Eastern European region increased significantly. At the closed-door Market Monitoring Club event, we discussed the reasons behind this. To what extent did the flow-based auction mechanism contribute to this? Although the aim of flow-based market coupling was to increase market efficiency and social welfare, experience has shown that it has not only brought benefits to our region.

The event was supported by the REKK Foundation.
