In the combined gas and electricity market modelling exercise, the project aims to quantify the price impact of the Neptun Deep gasfield extraction on the Romanian gas market: the impact on consumers' gas bills, the change in electricity-based production and the change in CO₂ emissions. The project sought to answer the question of

• What kind of return is expected for the extraction project (IIR)?
• Whether the European Union's support for the Tusla Podisor gas pipeline is justified?
• To what extent can the 1700 MW capacity addition of the Mintia power plant stand on its own feet without state support, and how will the construction of the other planned gas power plants - Turceni (475 MW) I425 Bucharest (475 MW) (275 MW) - affect Mintia's profitability?
