The main goal of the study was to examine the residential charges of Hungarian district heating supply, and to make a proposal on the reduction of these charges and the cutback of its competitve disadvantage. The study includes a catalogue of district heating service prices at the different suppliers and the analysis of the involved factors. Among them, we focused primarily on the effect of natural gas price and the enforceability of the environmental legislation in order to reduce its competitve disadvantage.

We reviewed the characteristics of district heated households, the effect of natural gas price development and structures in district heating prices. The study shows the development and structure of prices within each district heated settlement and the last part summarises the relevant environmental aspects.
