András Vékony joined REKK as a senior research associate in October 2017. His areas of expertise are the energy and transport sectors, with a focus on the market and regulatory aspects of decarbonisation, taking into account the considerations of a just transition. Building on competition and market analysis, he works on renewable energy support schemes and auction mechanisms, energy policy strategies and models (e.g. TIMES), as well as electricity market and infrastructure development issues. He studied Economics at the Corvinus University of Budapest and graduated in 2009, majoring in market analysis. Before joining REKK he spent 8 years at the Hungarian Competition Authority, where he worked on assessing mergers, conducts of dominant firms and complex cooperations among companies, mainly in the telecommunication, energy, postal, transportation and water utility markets.
